Gender-Sensitive Village Planning and Budgeting
Over the years, European Union (EU) and Indonesia have successfully worked together to foster inclusive development, support civil society, promote good governance, protect the environment, counter the effects of climate change, promote primary education, and prevent diseases. The EU also continues to work in close cooperation with civil society for promoting human rights, democracy, gender equality, economic development, and other issues.

One of the EU initiatives in supporting inclusive development in Indonesia and the Village Law Number 6 of 2014 is through a program called Gender-Sensitive Village Planning and Budgeting.

Through the collaboration with 9 Civil Society Organizations and IDEA, and supported by Search for Common Ground Indonesia, EU has led this program to create 54 Community Organizers (COs) from 18 villages in Bogor District and Tabanan, Bali. The three-year program also reached citizens in 300 other villages by disseminating social audits results and information about citizens’ rights through radio programs, village information board, and other communication products.

I supported this program in reporting and documenting the activities, as well as disseminating information about best practices through various platforms, including a video that I directed. I also was one of the editors of Gender Mainstreaming in the Implementation of the Village Law, a module created to guide Community Organizers and Local Governments in implementing Gender-perspective to support inclusive development in their villages.
